Privacy Policy
Background
The Chirality, Chirality-2 and ARCHEM apps were created by Michelle Spencer and Oliver Jones, and their students and collaborators, at RMIT University in Melbourne
Australia. We are academics, not a business. The apps are educational, free to download and do not generate any revenue.
You can read about how Chirality-2 was created at https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.jchemed.7b00856 and you can contact us via spencerandjones2016@gmail.com if you want more details on any aspect of the apps, or this privacy policy.
Policy details
Our privacy policy is short and simple. The Chirality, Chirality-2 and ARCHEM apps do not, and will not, collect or store any
personal information, ever. It is that simple.
We do not use analytics, and we don't have
adverts. We should let you know that the Apple App and Google Play stores that you
downloaded the apps from may use cookies to deliver their services and
analyse traffic, but that is not us. You can find out more about how Google uses data at https://policies.google.com/privacy/google-partners?hl=en-US
and how Apple uses data at https://www.apple.com/au/legal/privacy/en-ww/
if you wish.
Anonymised and amalgamated data on the total
number of downloads in different countries and devices (from users who opt in
to provide it) is provided to all app developers by Google and Apple to ensure
quality of service, and to generate usage statistics. Data from our developer account, such as total number of downloads, may be used in
promotional materials for the apps but such data contains no unique identifiers and it
is collected stored and processed by Apple or Google and not by Chirality, Chirality-2, ARCHEM or us.
You can also opt out of giving Apple and Google this information at any time by changing the settings in your Apple
or Google Play account.
The Chirality-2 app does allow you to post your
scores to your Facebook and Twitter accounts if you have them. However, this is done via the
Facebook and Twitter API and associated apps, not by Chirality-2. No personal data (e.g. email address or billing information) or any other
data that can be reasonably linked to such information is ever collected by the Chirality, Chirality-2 or ARCHEM apps and never will be. Once you
have downloaded the apps you do not even need an internet connection to play them.
Information sharing
Like anyone else, we will always comply
with court ordered legal requests. However, we don't expect any such requests
since we don't collect any personal information and therefore could not provide
anything useful even if asked for it.
